Bob Shriver
email: [email protected] I am interested in understanding how environmental variability, disturbance, and management drive the dynamics of plant populations. I received my PhD working with Bill Morris at Duke University and did postdocs with both John Bradford at the USGS and Peter Adler at Utah State University. CV |

I am currently a Master's student in the Shriver lab studying the demography of an endemic alpine plant in the Tahoe Basin. I completed my undergraduate degree also at UNR and have spent time working in the Great Basin, alpine Colorado, and Georgian granite outcrops. My broad research interests are how plant population dynamics are changing in response to climate change and disturbances and how we can leverage this information for applied restoration and conservation.

I recently completed my MS in Geography at the University of British Columbia and obtained my BS in Biology from the University of Washington. My Phd work strives to bridge the gap between these two disciplines—I am broadly interested in how shifts in climate and disturbance shape forest boundaries and tree abundance at large spatial scales. This research will use a combination of demographic modeling and remote sensing.

I am a PhD student in the Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Biology (EECB) program here at UNR. I graduated from Arizona State University with a BS in conservation biology and ecology. During my time in undergrad, I volunteered in the macrosystems ecology lab, led by Dr. Ben Blonder. I am broadly interested in community ecology and the effect of climate change on plant communities, and more specifically, in forecasting species range shifts to guide conservation efforts and predict how climate change and disturbance will restructure ecosystems, communities and populations. In my spare time you can find me learning guitar, fishing, biking or hiking.

I am a Master’s student currently studying post-fire restoration seeding techniques on and around the footprint of the 2020 Poeville fire that occurred just outside of Reno, NV. My current general research interests lie in the management and restoration of public lands in the context of natural and controlled wildfires. I undertook my undergraduate degree at UC Santa Cruz and finished with a BS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Previous research interests were in California salt marsh restoration techniques and in invasion resistance on tussocks in Northern California.

I am an environmental sciences major with a specialization in conservation and restoration at UNR. My favorite areas of interest from my jobs and classes I've taken while pursuing my undergraduate degree have to do with demographic compensation across populations in the face of climate change. I also enjoy journaling, listening to music, and baking. I am expecting to graduate in the fall of 2023.
